Archery, primitive weapons, honorary license holders and parent/child hunts are part of the hunting schedule. The Georgia Hunting Seasons and Regulations booklet gives detailed information about Dukes Creek Conservation Area which is located under “Georgia Wildlife Management Areas”.
Please Contact the park for further information about hunting.
As part of its resource management plan, Smithgall Woods has hunts from September through April each year. There are large game, small game, turkey hunts, and specialty hunts. There are safety zones around the Visitor Center, Education Cabin, and the cottages. These areas are not hunted. When a
hunt is in session, hiking and biking are limited to the Visitor Center area, and trout fishing is limited to Section 1. Laurel Ridge Trail is available for hiking, even during a hunt.
A hunting schedule can be accessed on the Smithgall Woods page of the Georgia State Parks website; otherwise, call the Visitor Center to check the hunt schedule.
