About Smithgall

Smithgall Woods – Dukes Creek Conservation Area is a state park consisting of 5,663 acres of mountain woodlands that rise along the Dukes Creek watershed. The State of Georgia acquired the land in 1994 and it became dedicated as a Heritage Preserve under the Georgia Heritage Trust Act of 1975. This wonderful park area is managed by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources who strive to protect its landscape while offering environmental education along with low impact recreational opportunities.
